Our Trainer
Teresa "Titi" Mills focuses on developing horses over time, a philosophy that has been at the heart of her training
method since opening the first riding club in her native Honduras in 1981.
Titi started riding and competing seriously under Pavel Blaho while attending Kent School in Connecticut and further pursued
her passion by graduating from Southern Seminary with a certificate in Horsemanship and Animal Science.
In an effort to promote equestrian sports and develop her own skills when she returned to Honduras, she frequently invited
internationally known riders and trainers in dressage and showjumping to give clinics at her El Molino Stable, and in the early
1990s she also trained with members of the Guatemalan team and in the U.S. with Leslie Howard.
In 1998 after Hurricane Mitch devastated her facility at El Molino, Mills decided to start over in the United States. Beginning
in 2003, she worked as assistant trainer and barn manager for Kevin Babington, where she had the opportunity to work with a
number of dedicated students and train top-quality horses. In 2006, she moved to Quiet Corner Farm.
Titi has trained a number of horses whom she has competed at the international level. She won two silver showjumping medals
in the 1990 Central American and Caribbean Games and a team silver medal in dressage at the 1997 Central American Games. With
her current prospect, Q’s Cheer, Titi was a member of the bronze-medal-winning Honduran show jumping team at the 2006 Central
American Games.
Titi is a Rider Ambassador for JustWorld International, a humanitarian organization that raises awareness and funds in the
equestrian community to support sustainable, culturally sensitive projects that benefit underprivileged children and communities
in the developing world. She has been instrumental in establishing JustWorld projects in Honduras. |
